The main benefits of vacuum sintering 

(1) Vacuum is an ideal inert atmosphere. Vacuum sintering furnaces are ideal when other reducing or inert gases, such as materials prone to decarburization and carburization, are not appropriate.

(2) Vacuum can effectively reduce contamination by harmful atmospheric components (water, oxygen, nitrogen, etc.). For example, the water content in electrolytic hydrogen is difficult to reduce to the dew point -40°C,  whereas, in vacuum sintering, the vacuum level is equivalent to the dew point -40°C as long as it is in the hundreds of PA.

(3) Vacuum helps to remove adsorbed gases from the sintered material to promote shrinkage in the later stages of sintering.

(4) Vacuum removes impurities such as silicon, aluminum, magnesium, and calcium or their oxides from the material, which serves to purify the material.

(5) Vacuum can improve the wettability of the liquid phase sintering and help the material to improve the shrinkage and alloy organization during the sintering process.

(6)Vacuum sintering is in fact low pressure sintering. The higher the vacuum level, the closer it is to a neutral atmosphere and the less likely it is to react with the material. This is why vacuum sintering furnaces ensure that parts remain bright from the start.
